i wonder.
i say….
yes. if it is for the betterment of something or someone or somewhere. then it is all worth it. the struggles are worth it. the fight is worth it. the lessons are worth it. in the end, all will be worth it. knowing...

breathe and exhale
when you’ve realized that all the time you had your head in the books, your heart on pause and your soul captive of a system, that all around you has been placed there to distract you. when you can really, truly breathe and exhale without restraints tainting your lungs. you will understand that the cost for liberation and freedom is nothing compared to the price you have been paying as a...

revolution
there is no revolution without violence - if it takes violence to create oppressive states then it is violence that will take it down, but it will take love to rebuild a world for the people. The oppressed must restore humanity for both themselves and their oppressors. This will truly come from a place of love. I stand in solidarity with those who will choose to fight back for the freedom of their...

Thoughts drifting off to 7000 miles away. Where student strikes are gearing up and I get excited when reading my news feed but sad at the same time because I want to be out there. However, I know that distance can never separate a movement and kasamas are doing their thang out there while we are doing ours here.

Integration 1 : Vitas, Tondo
Our first Babae integration was vitas, tondo. An urban poor community who is experience demolition after demolition of homes, displacing families and yet the environment gave me a warm realization of what courage really looks like. The first day we made our way up steps of stairs not fully built, had our orientation with Gab Tondo and dispersed amongst our host families. The buildings are...

Been in the PI for 3 days now. The first two days were spent at the Center for Women’s Resources in Quezon City. Three days feels like they have all melted together. Three days feels like weeks now. Our first stop is at an international conference. I’ve been able to build, learn and experiences with every participant that I have met. The attendees...

Philippines midpoint
With my trip in the Philippines half way complete I am looking back on the past few weeks spent here and can not begin to write down the lessons learned, the memories gathered and the experiences that will forever be engraved in my heart. A trip to the motherland has me lost for words and simple smiles make the days go by fast. Looking back at each community we visited, every story we listened to...
PI blog #1
With this trip officially starting for me in about 3-5 hours I think it’s time for me to blog a little. I have been really excited for this trip. Too excited at times and really nervous most of the time. I keep on having to explain to family and friends what I am doing and I am realizing that I can’t really put into words what the journey will entail. I can give a skeleton of what we are...

Opening a chapter that will include Philippines, Hawaii and a kick off to a second year in PA. As I make the transition I am too excited for...
