July 8 - PI blog #2

(blogs are out of order, pero dated)

Been in the PI for 3 days now. The first two days were spent at the Center for Women’s Resources in Quezon City. Three days feels like they have all melted together. Three days feels like weeks now. Our first stop is at an international conference. I’ve been able to build, learn and experiences with every participant that I have met. The attendees of the conference are from all over the world and from all different walks of life yet all fighting for the same thing (anti-impe). I’ve met Gab members from all over the Philippines, Canada and US. Many of whom have been organizing long before I was even born. I attended the women’s concern and youth and student concern, two sectors that I’ve found a home in. The women’s sector moved the kababaihan spirit within me and pushed me in a militant direction to see my struggle as a Filipina in America fit into a larger picture and come to a realization of what womenhood is. My experience as a Pinay strengthened with every voice in the room. I also attended the Youth and Student concern=AMAZING! The criticalness of the kabataan and their determination is beyond words and the learnings I took away from the sessions hopefully carry out and have build a foundation for the rest of the trip. Long live international solidarity.
